Tourism in India forms a very large part of the economy. Tropical weather, exotic wildlife and very old historic landmarks are the country's main attractions. India is also known for having the most prolific film industry of any nation.
India has the second largest population of any country in the world after China with a population of 1.2 billion, and is the seventh largest country by area. It shares borders with China, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Burma and the southern half is surrounded by the Indian Ocean.
The diversity in Indian culture is extremely broad in terms of colour, food, music, sport, religion and general customs.
Indian weather is extremely hot by British standards. Summer lasts from April to October and temperatures can peak up to 40 degrees centigrade. To avoid the extreme temperatures it would be advisable to either head for the northern states or avoid the peak of summer.
Leisure activities in India are so broad that they are best divided into four main categories for convenience:
Museums, mausoleums, palaces and temples are dotted all over the land. The Taj Mahal with its distinctive white onion domes is one of the most recognizable landmarks on Earth, and Bollywood is the site of the largest film industry in the world.
The land is full of areas of untouched wildlife such as jungles, deserts and beaches. The different species are too numerous to list here, but wild elephants and tigers are the two most sought after species.
Health spas and the like are very big business in India. Massage, detox, yoga are all intended to produce a feeling of physical and spiritual well being.
The variety of the natural landscape allows for just about every concievable outdoor adventure activity.
At the present time we are sorry but we do not have any vacation rentals available in India.
