Grenada is a small island country at the southern end of the chain of islands in the Caribbean known as the Grenadines. It is part of the British Commonwealth so English is the official language. The capital city is St. George's.
There is no major variation in temperature throughout the year, but there are great differences according to elevation since the interior of the island is mountainous with elevation up to 840m. Grenada is subjected to a constant northeast trade wind, which alleviates extreme heat.
High on the list of Grenada's important activities would be water sports. The waters have more than the average number of wreck sites for divers to explore as well as the more common facilities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, boat charter or fishing trips.
Next on the list would be the sporty/adventurous pursuits. Golf courses and tennis courts are not extensive on the island but nevertheless can be found. The Grenadian landscape with its forests and rivers is ideal for ecotourism and has abundant trails for hiking, biking, etc.
Native animals such as opossums, Mona monkeys or a variety of non-venomous snakes may be found among the forests and waterfalls for those who are prepared to seek them out.
A very generous 20% of the land is devoted to natural reserves, amongst which can be found an abundance of impressively tall waterfalls.
