Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States of America and is located in the northeast Caribbean. It consists of one main island surrounded by an archipelago of lesser islands. The climate is generally tropical with an average of 27 degrees C on the low land and 21 degrees C in the upper regions. There is a constant trade wind that blows across the island from the east.
Puerto Rico has 270 miles of very clean, high quality beaches, other natural wonders, historical buildings and cultural events to offer. Much of the landscape consists of either mountains or lush forests. The indigenous wildlife features over 200 species of birds, a great many introduced mammals such as the mongoose, a few interesting reptiles such as the Mona boa or ground gecko and the fearsome giant centipede.
There are many different ways to tour the land's interior to suit all tastes. A few of the most exciting would be guided tours of the immense cave systems, kayak adventures along rivers, zipline tours through treetops or segway tours. Note that some tour companies even offer a bundle including several different activities combined.
The beaches are equally well-equipped with tours and activities. From the most common like snorkeling or boat charter to the more adventurous like deep sea fishing, you can be sure that any time of year will provide water activities for anyone.
