Devon is a large country that has two national parks, Exmoor National Park occupies the Northern end of England's fourth largest county and Dartmoor National Park occupies the South West. These natural wonders are accentuated by two UNESCO recognised sites: the Jurassic Coast that occupies the eastern side and Braunton Burrows also to the north.
Besides the opportunities to ramble or revel in the natural delights of Devon’s changing natural landscape there is also the opportunity to enjoy the Blue Flag beaches of Torbay. Out of the twenty beaches they have on offer, six were awarded the top European award for cleanliness and environmental friendliness and have been recently voted the cleanest beaches in England and with the changing climate that has England enjoying more natural sunshine certainly makes it a great holiday for not only home vacationing Britons but also the many visitors that travel from overseas.
England's temperate climate also gives it some of the most beautiful gardens in Europe such as Becky Falls Woodlands Park, Bicton Park Botanical Gardens, Escot Park and Babbacombe Miniature Village. Gardens are also prominent around ancient fortifications and grand stately homes such as Dartmouth Castle and the famous Bucklands Abbey - the home of Sir Francis Drake who bowled whilst the storm depleted Spanish Armada sailed to wage war upon British shores.
The port of Plymouth offers ferry service to nearby France, Spain and Portugal and berths cruise ships and other splendid sea faring vessels. It also has lesser vessels for sports such as kayaking, canoeing, jet-skiing and dinghies. There are also clubs for beginners or more advanced. There are also numerous places for children like the zoos at Paignton, Exmoor and Dartmoor. There are also adventure parks, farms and wildlife centres.
