Some of the more popular places this can be seen in are Palaia Anaktora, Venetian fortifications and castle like turrets surround the buildings and palaces. Having being used in the past to house a wide variety of people ranging from British Governors to Kings of Greece. The Gardens of the Palace, named the Royal Gardens, is filled with plenty of exotic plants and seasonal colours, with an amazing view of the bay. Within the Corfu Town itself is the Palace of St. Michael and St. Georges looks very different, more like a stately English home. Originally reserved for British Lord high commissioners it now houses both the Museum of Asian Art and the Municipal Art Gallery.
Along the western coast hidden caves and coves can be found within the rocky outcrops that span across the beaches, offering both sand and shade. If your feeling up to some Serious travelling you have the 1000 meters high Mount Pantokrator, offering breathtaking views across the oceans to the other nearby islands. You could travel to Old Perithia, a deserted village up in the mountains that lie between Kassiopi and Acharavi, abandoned homes and even a Tavern or two. During the summer there are many festivals to see and join in, some local to Greece, some local to Corfu alone.

Things to do
The Palace of Saint Michael and Saint Georges
Formerly the site of a Venetian hospital, the Palace was used as a residence of the British Lord High Commissioner until 1864. Today, it houses the Museum of Asian Art and the Municipal Art Gallery, as well as the Corfu Island public Library and the Archives of the Ionian Senate.
Mount Pantokrator
Located in the northern part of the island, Mount Pantokrator stands over a thousand meters high, offering an amazing view of Corfu as well as several other nearby islands such as Paxos. Looking northwest on a clear day, you might just be able to see the southern tip of Italy, over 80 miles away. On the way there are several villages and at the top is a Monastery and Radio antenna.
Aqualand
Though Corfu has several water parks, Aqualand is the largest and most popular of them and one of the largest in the whole of Europe, making a perfect day out for the family.
Old Town
A unique looking town with several historical attractions, offering a Venetian look. The Old Town is comprised of winding streets with cobblestone alleyways, with several sights to see. There is the old Venetian Citadel as well as seafront esplanade, offering a view across the Bay of Garista.

Climate
Corfu has fairly warm weather all year round, averaging 31 degrees during the summer and still reaching an average of 15 during the winter. On rare occasions during the winter, Mount Pantokrator will actually become snow capped.
