The Palazzo Roverella was built to celebrate the prestige of the Roverella family in the 15th century. The rooms are all embellished with frescoes and decorations that were renovated in 2006. It is now used as a gallery for displaying painting exhibitions. Another one worth visiting is the castle of Rovigo, which belonged to the bishops from the year 955. While there, you will be quite surprised when you learn why it is also known as the Church of the Ditches!
The La Rotonda is the best-known monument of Rovigo and the most famous Baroque Church. The inside is filled with paintings, friezes and statues. The paintings are mainly by local artists from the 17th and 18th centuries. There is also a wonderful bell tower that you must not miss while here.
The most famous monuments here are two medieval towers that were once a part of a castle dating back to the 10th century. These are located in the main street of the town.
For the artistically inclined a visit to the Concordi Gallery is a must. It has a great collection of art works, besides some important works by the likes of Jan Gossaert and Giovanni Bellini, besides Palma the Elder. You can see the paintings of Madonna with Child, Christ with a Cross, as well as several other beautiful portraits.
