The Netherlands is composed of twelve provinces with the most populated and most visited by tourists being the official capital city of Amsterdam located in North Holland. Its neighbouring province, The Hague is the official seat of power.
Amsterdam is crammed full of things to do with many museums held in high regard including the Van Gogh museum dedicated to the artist who reputedly cut off his own ear though it is now said he lost it in a fight when fellow artist Paul Gauguin lopped it off with a sword. Regardless the amount of emotion that Van Gogh portrays in his use of colours and style is very expressive. There are also many other art studios and galleries and is a centre for great shopping with fashion houses, boutiques and other shops selling famous brands.
The flatness of the Netherlands that falls below sea level is protected by dykes and sea barriers which offer a wonderful canal network with arching bridges that reflect the Golden Age of the 16th and 17th century prominence in Europe. It has been recognised as a World Heritage monument by UNESCO. There are regular boat excursions that offer a round trip to many sights including the house of the Jewish girl Anne Frank, which has been preserved to illustrate the conditions that they lived in during the German occupation in the Second World War.
Holidays for the cyclist are common and also for nature lovers. There are twenty national parks located throughout this nation with windmills daubed against swathes of tulips creating perfect backdrops for clog wearers in traditional dress. Heathland and woods provide excellent walking trails with shimmering lakes offering opportunity for fishing, boating and camping excursions.
We are sorry but at the present time we do not have any holiday rentals available in The Netherlands.
