Estoi, is a charming village in to the north east of Faro. Lying at the base of the mountain Serra do Caldeirão, Estoi is a charming town with narrow cobbled streets with a new attractive village square. There are many quality restaurants and cafes in town as well as several shops. A large market is held on the second Sunday of each month, which sells a variety of goods. And there are two fairs a year; The Festa da Pinha takes place during May and the Horse Fair is in August - each of them are quite entertaining, especially at night. The Horse Fair is a stunning display of equestrian performances. There is also bull fighting during the Horse Fair that is popular with many visitors.
There are several historic buildings in Estoi from Roman ruins to Moorish architecture. The Neo-Classical Palace of Estoi dating back to the 18th century is stunning and is a must see to everyone visiting Estoi in particular its beautiful mosaic staircases.
