Altea has the largest street market in the region of Costa Blanca on the sea front and takes place every Tuesday in the morning, which gets very crowded. Several quality boutiques and design shops make up Altea's shopping with many other shops selling a variety of different goods. The higher you get in Altea, the more magnificent the views become. The church and church square lies at the top of the hill in town with narrow cobbled streets leading down into the town, lined with galleries and craft workshops. For fifty years, Altea has had a dedication to the arts and stages several artistic festivals. Several resident artists set up along by the promenade and sell their paintings or take requests; you can even ask for your self-portrait to be done while you wait.
