Isla Canela - The beautiful island of Isla Canela is just south of Ayamonte boasts some of the best beaches across the Costa de la Luz. Stretching over a staggering 7 kilometres, you won't find any over crowded beaches filled with tourists and towels here, you will easily be able to find a private part of the beach for yourself to allow you to fully relax in peace and tranquillity like a true holiday should be spent. Also home to some of the best golf courses in the Andalucia region making it a must go area for anyone with an interest in golf.
There are a total of 2 golf courses situated within the Isla Canela. The nearest a mere 5 minutes away from the marina boasts an 18 hole/par 72 course, equipped beautiful landscapes. There are buggies, golf clubs and trolleys are available for you to hire if necessary. If you want to practice your swing, then there is a driving range just next to the clubhouse, which has a restaurant giving you the option of taking a break or having lunch after a full day on the green.
Another golf course on offer is the Islantilla Golf Club which is a 27 hole championship golf course currently expanding to a 36 hole golf course. It’s well worth a visit for a top rate club.
Church of San Salvador - The Church of San Salvador is well worth a visit just for its memorable tower, which offers some stunning panoramic views of Portugal, the town and the river.
Marshes of the Guadiana - The Marshes of the Guadiana estuary contain a rich bird life herons, storks and flamingos. The estuary contains an extremely important natural heritage as it takes out an essential role in making the ecosystem a healthy one.
There is an estimated 420 different species of plant life within the marshes including some of conservation importance.
Doñana national park - One of Europe's most important wetland reserves, The Doñana National Park is a preferred location for a large number of migrating birds. The park itself and the surrounding area is a huge 1,300 sq km spread out within the provinces of Huelva, Sevilla and Cádiz. Over the years, the Doñana national park has become a key place within the world of conservation.
The park is known for its wide range of birds, sme of which live there permanently, while others migrate to the park for the winter periods from northern and central Europe, some birds even migrate there for the summer from countries such as Africa. The park has one of the largest colonies of Spanish imperial eagles.
The Doñana national park is a great place for bird watchers and anyone with an interest in birds and is well worth a visit.
