Son Real Necropolis is about a twenty-minute walk from Son Baulo Beach and it is a prehistoric burial ground that dates back to the Iron Age. The site itself is unlike many other burial sites, it literally looks like a massive jumble of around 110 tombs of varying sizes and shapes, from circles to horse-shoe.

The town is home to a rather unusual festival known as the ‘Fiesta of the ducks’ and it attracts some 3000 visitors each year. As well as the mass release of ducks, there is live entertainment, music. It is held in mid-August and starts around midday when two boats anchor themselves in the harbour and then the 350 ducks are released into the sea. The competition revolves around people, who are usually masked, jumping into the sea to rescue the ducks; the person who has ‘saved’ the most ducks is declared the winner.
