Costa del Silencio is a modern tourist resort on the south coast of Tenerife just 12km away from the airport. Despite this, the resort itself can be quite relaxing and peaceful. The Ten Bel complex that was the original resort in the late 1960s is now the centre of the Costa del Silencio resort with four new areas surrounding it. Each of the new areas has their own swimming pool and other facilities. The resort is most popular with German and Belgian tourists although the British do make a considerable showing. Close to the Ten Bel complex is a town with the usual services and three commercial centres, which are ideal for doing some shopping. Many supermarkets here sell imported brand goods from England.
Las Galletas was a small fishing village close by Costa del Silencio but with the resorts increase in tourism and growth, so too did Las Galletas. While Las Galletas does have its own beach, it is largely covered in pebbles - but even without a proper beach the Atlantic waves here still attracts the local surfers. Many tourists staying at Costa del Silencio take the short walk into Las Galletas for the seaside atmosphere the village has, especially at night. And with it being a fishing village, fish and seafood hold prominence on the menus of the restaurants with a large variety of quality dishes.
