El Cotillo is a small village along the west coast of Fuerteventura and is mainly cantered around the villages' small working harbour, of which there is an old harbour and a new harbour. There are some bars and restaurants around the village, a museum and a short walk away is the Fortaleza del Toston; a 17th century fort. There are miles of beaches close by that are great on a sunny day and because of their large size, are never overcrowded. The beaches have large waves, ideal for the experienced surfer but much less so for the inexperienced. The beaches have very little in the way of services close by so visitors to these beaches may wish to take their own supplies. A bus service can take you to the main resort Corralejo if you desire a livelier day out.
