Hacienda Riquelme is a luxury golf complex by Polaris World; it is situated in the Murcia region of Spain on the southeastern coastline. The resort itself is about a 20-minute drive from the sea and the capital of the region, Murcia, is about a 40-minute drive away.
The resort has a lot to offer, other than the obvious golf course, such as swimming, a sports centre, which has a gym; children’s play grounds, a supermarket, bars and restaurants. All the apartments are furnished to a very high standard, with item such as plasma TV’s and DVD players, dishwashers and washing machines, so they truly feel like a home from home with the added bonus of being somewhere warm and sunny.
The golf course is an 18 hole, 72 par, Jack Nicklaus design and the resorts of El Valle and la Torre are also close at hand if you should wish to try their courses. The setting here is stunning, with views across the plains right to the Mar Menor Lagoon shoreline.
If you feel the need to escape for a day or two, why not hire a car and explore some of the lovely towns around the area. Sucina is the closest by and there are many others within a 20-30 minute drive and once you are by the Mar Menor Lagoon you will find a whole host of them dotted around. One that must be visited however is Lo Pagan; this is simply because of its mud baths. They are free and are located at the end of the beach. The mud is claimed to have healing properties.
A little further afield there is Terra Natura Murci, which is a recently opened theme park; it is a safari and water park. The zoo section is well laid out and if you are lucky, lions or bears may come right up to the window so you can have a chance to see these amazing creatures up close and personal.
If you would rather prefer a more traditional theme park with rides, then you will need to head to Terra Mitica Theme Park, which is in Benidorm and is around a 90 minute drive away. There is plenty to see and do here, however the rides are not suitable for those under five, but the water park element should keep the smaller ones entertained while the older ones enjoy the thrill rides.
