La Tercia is a golf resort in the region of Murcia, in southeastern Spain. It is situated about a 15 minute drive away from San Javier, 26 minutes from the regions capital of Murcia and about half an hours drive from the Lagoon of Mar Menor. The resort is a purpose built complex for both golf lovers and those who have to live with the golfing crazy.
Currently it has a nine-hole course, which was designed by Pepe Gancedo, but plans are in hand to extend this to 18 very shortly. The course has come high recommended by a local professional who said that the 5 par holes were challenging and the greens were some of the best in Murcia. There is even an aquatic driving range where seeing your ball splash into the water isn’t a bad thing.
As well as the golf course, the complex has a whole host of other activates to keep the non-golfer happy such as a bowling green, basketball court, five-a-side football pitches, tennis courts and a myriad of cycle paths to explore at your leisure. If all this isn’t enough, then as a guest you have access to any of the 16 swimming pools on site, as well as use of the children’s play areas.
If you want a break away from the resort a car is in order, just let the resort know what you want and when and they will arrange this for you.
Lo Pagan is a lovely town, which has recently joined with San Pedro del Pinatar to become one larger town. The beaches here are fantastic and during the summer months there is a fun fair by the marina, which is great if you have kids. However, the best reason to visit Lo Pagan is for its famous acclaimed mud baths. This is a totally free activity and is suitable for all ages. Simply walk down to the end of the beach and take a dip in the mud to cover you. Then allow the mud to dry in the sun and wash it off in the sea; it is said to be good for many conditions, from skin conditions to aches and pains.
If you want some nightlife, then head to either Torrevieja or La Zenia, which are a little further up the northern coastline or head south towards the famous La Manga strip. There are many towns and villages around the area and many have interesting buildings or ruins to explore. In addition, most of the local towns here hold a weekly market where you can pick up local produce and other traditional hand crafted items.
