Monforte del Cid is a small town in the Alicante area but is not tourism focused. A visitor here will likely have the same experiences that the locals do. The weather is usually hot during the summer with mild winters however rain is not uncommon. A few sporting facilities do exist around town and golf is a major attraction here with several courses to go to if you are a golfer. The local cuisine consists of Mediterranean dishes such as rice with rabbit stew, oil cakes and sardines. Also a popular delicacy of the town is the Monforte cake - a type of meringue made from almond. However, Monforte del Cid has various different restaurants so you should find one that caters to your tastes whatever they may be.
There is the Pilgrimage of San Pascual festival in May and the Fiestas de San Roque in August with the main focus of these festivals being eating and drinking. The old town section features some significant architectural buildings and churches from the 12th and 13th century; a time when Christians and Muslims lived together in the same community. The town also features several music and theatre groups, which put on shows for the town that also travels throughout the country.
