Nueva Andalucia is a purpose-built resort near to the tourist destinations of Marbella and Puerto Banus that has been designed to look like an old-fashioned Andalucian village, with traditional buildings and lots of greenery. Ideally situated between the beaches of the Costa del Sol and the mountains of the Sierra de Ronda, the resort and its surroundings have something for everyone.
The town itself has all the amenities that visitors staying in hotels or self catering apartments would need, including a supermarket, souvenir shops and banks. There is even a weekly market held in the square next to the town bullring on a Saturday morning. Golfers are well catered for in the Nueva Andalucia region, as they are in most of the Costa del Sol. There are several courses within driving distance including one, La Dama de Noche, which is floodlit so you can carry on your game into the evening. Other sporting facilities in or near the town include swimming pools, tennis courts and a gym. The Costa del Sol only has two casinos, and one is located in Nueva Andalucia, providing your night out with a touch of Monte Carlo class.
While the major resorts of Marbella and Puerto Banus, and all their attractions and facilities, are within driving distance, there is no need to assume that you need to leave Nueva Andalucia on order to find a good restaurant. For such a small town, the resort is fast gaining a reputation as somewhere you can enjoy excellent Spanish cuisine, in a region which is often better known for its British snack bars. Many of these restaurants can be found on the mountain road out of the village, which means you can enjoy an amazing view of the coastline while you eat.
The most obvious day trips to take from your holiday home in Nueva Andalucia is to the nearby beaches and glamour of Marbella and Puerto Banus, the most exclusive resorts in the area. In fact, a day trip is the best way to appreciate these two towns while travelling on a budget! If you prefer to escape from the crowds rather than join them, you could always head in the other direction, towards the mountains of the Sierra de Ronda where there are many walking trails and even equestrian centres, most of which organise day-long pony treks into the countryside. You can also hire bicycles from Nueva Andalucia to help you explore the scenery if you have come on holiday without your car.
