Ronda lies in the mountains of Serrania de Ronda and its majesty lies in its prominence of views. The Eagle's Nest that Ronda is sometimes known as is appropriately titled with a fantastic view of the El Tajo gorge with times-past mountain streams carried from the Sierra de la Nieves etching their natural imprints through the rock.
It is hardly surprising that this area today is one of Spain's most photographed sights. The gorge eventually gives way to a valley that once utilised these streams known as the Rio Guadalevin to power mills used to make flour.
Ronda is also the birthplace of modern day bullfighting. Pedro Romero a legendary bullfighter wanted to release the Jerez school of mounted matadors' tradition and bring them to ground to face the bulls directly.
