The Black Sea Region (known in Turkish as Karadeniz Bölgesi) is one of Turkey's seven regions, and the only one where more people live in rural areas instead of urban areas.
A visit to the Black Sea region can be worth it, as you can take an excursion to anywhere possible, so why not do one of these excursions, you can visit places like East Anatolia, Eastern Turkey, Harran, Mt. Nemrut, Mt. Ararat, Van or Urfa, the excursions which can take place by road or by sea are so wonderful and the views are something that will make you keep coming back over and over again, that is how beautiful it is, you may even be able to stop off for lunch, and possibly a swim as well, sunbathing too, hey, who knows.
The region as a whole does have a steep and rocky coastline with the river cascading through the coastal range and it's gorges. Some larger rivers do cut back through the Dogu Karadeniz Daglari (Pontic Mountains) and flow into broad yet elevated basins.
Access to the inland of the region is sadly limited to narrow valleys because of the elevated mountain ridges (ranging from 1,525 - 1,800 in one direction and 3,000 - 4,000 in the other in a mountain range called the Kaçkar Mountains.
The higher slopes face northwest and tend to be forested quite densely, and because of these natural conditions, the coast of the Black Sea has been isolated from near by Anatolia.
