Things to do Water World One of the largest water parks in the United States, Water World Colorado offers a huge range of slides and thrill rides for all the family to enjoy. Some of the parks thrill rides include the Skyline Speed slides, which plunge 6 stories to the bottom or the Revolution sliding through darkness before being dropped into a large bowl before the big splash. Heritage Square Entertainment Village The Heritage Square Entertainment Village is an amusement park with various activities to choose from. The Alpine slide allows visitors to slide along half-mile tracks on a sled; the miners maze adventure land offers a large labyrinth to amuse those who choose to go inside. The village also offers a railroad and an amusement park area with Karting, a Ferris wheel, Mini Golf, an arcade and various other rides. Elitch Gardens Theme Park The Elitch Gardens Theme Park offers visitors a range of rides which twist, turn and thrill the riders, some twisting, rolling and turning at over 50mph. Garden of the Gods The Garden of the Gods is a registered natural landmark and visitors can take van and jeep tours during the summer and soak up the stunning surroundings. The Visitor and Nature Centre displays various exhibits with information on the native American tribes that once roamed the area during the winter months. Another of the centres exhibits has information on a unique dinosaur fossil that was discovered in the garden during the 1800s. In the Eastern Plains region the climate goes through wide variations of temperature through the year. In summer, temperatures can reach into the high 30s °C and in winter can drop into the mid –20s °C. In the western area there are various microclimates causing differences in temperatures in areas relatively close to each other. Summer temperatures on the whole, tend to reach only to the high teens (°C) and there are frequent thunderstorms in the region. Most of the extreme weather is encountered in the eastern region of the state, with thunderstorms, hailstorms and frequent tornados. Location Colorado is located in the western United States and is one of the Mountain States as the Rocky Mountains run through the state. The state is landlocked and borders the states of Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming. The state also meets the state of Arizona as part of the Four Corners States.
