The state of Idaho is located in the northwest of the United States. Idaho shares boarders with Washington, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming, Nevada, Montana and also shares its northern boarder with British Columbia, Canada.
Idaho’s vast wilderness offers visitors a range of outdoor activities, making Idaho well suited to the more adventurous tourist. The Frank Church – River of No Return Wilderness Area is a vast protected wilderness spanning 2.3 million acres meaning the area is home to a variety of animals including Mountain Lions, Wolves, Black Bears, Lynx, Coyote, Mountain Goats, Elk, Moose and Deer.
Visitors can enjoy the scenic delights of Idaho while enjoying a spot of fishing or hunting as well as rafting/kayaking, horseback riding, a range of stunning world class golf courses and in the winter months there are eighteen Ski resorts to choose from. Idaho also contains some of the United States’ most beautiful natural attractions, wildlife, lakes, rivers and stunning mountain ranges.
Idaho also has a range of more traditional attractions such as a number of fairs and festivals that a spread throughout the year, museums, art galleries and tourist stores including a wine shop. Those who enjoy stunts may wish to pay a visit to Snake River Canyon, the sight of a daring attempt by Evel Knievel to jump the canyon on a rocket assisted motorcycle. He failed in his attempt and survived his descent to the bottom of the canyon, narrowly avoiding the river and certain death. There is a monument on the shore where he landed in honour of his attempt.

Lava Hot Springs
The Lava Hot Springs resort community near the famous Yellowstone National Park is a chance to see some of Idaho’s natural beauty. The resort, as its name implies, has natural hot springs to relax and unwind. Other activities include golf, fishing, hiking, cycling and spending time being pampered at the resorts spa.
Craters of the Moon National Monument
The Craters of the Moon National Monument is and interesting place to visit during a holiday in Idaho. The monument is a huge area encompassing several lava fields, visitors can explore the area though the caves are only open my permit.
Schweitzer Mountain
The Schweitzer Mountain offers year round activities and events for all to enjoy, during the summer months the mountain host’s music festivals, a downhill mountain bike race, a swimming race across the Lake Pend Oreille and other sporting events and shows. During the winter the mountain resort offers over 90 skiing runs for skiers of all levels to enjoy.
Magic Mountain
The Magic Mountain Ski Resort is another mountain for ski lovers and learners alike. This resort is only open during the skiing season however.
Raptor Reef Indoor Water Park
The Raptor Reef Indoor Water Park is a large waterpark in Hayden. The park comes with everything needed for a fun day out for the family. Children have the ‘Aquaplay’ area with water cannons, slides and a dumping bucket, all designed for the younger children. Older children and adults are also well catered for with a wave pool, high-speed slides and hot tubs.
Riot Zone Family Fun Park
The Riot Zone Family Fun Park offers a variety of activities to enjoy including; Bumper boats, Go-Karts, Mini Golf, Rock Climbing and Ice Skating.
Mine Tours
The Crystal Gold Mine and the Sierra Silver Mine offer tours through the well-lit caverns and teach visitors about what mining was like in the 1800s. The Silver mine is a popular attraction and tours are provided by experienced miners.

Idaho’s major airports are regional airports serving the United States; Boise Airport is one example of this. International tourists can fly to Spokane International Airport in Washington State.
Major Cities
Boise is the States capital and largest metropolitan area. Other notable cities include; Coeur d’Alene, Moscow, Caldwell.
Climate
Idaho is a large state and as such has a wide variation in climate depending on the region of the state being visited. Highs in summer however can reach into the mid 30s °C and in the mountains the temperature can plummet in winter to well below freezing.
