Wisconsin is known as the diary capital of the US and that it is the home of the Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
Start with a trip to Old World Wisconsin which is America’s largest museum on rural life. It has a village from the 1870s, along with ethnic farmsteads that portray the history of immigration. From here, head to the Pirates Cove to see frolicking pirates, sunken ships and waterfalls in a colourful pirate themed atmosphere. Move on to the Wilderness Walk Zoo where you can feed the deer, play with baby animals, head for a picnic or pan for gold!
Then head to the Birch Creek Music Performance Centre to catch the performance of outstanding young musicians, many of whom teach by day and perform here by night. While on the night watch take a look at the Cana Island Lighthouse to know how the sailors of yore were guided away from the dangerous shoals that protruded into Lake Michigan.
Fishing, yes. But ever been to a Fishing Museum? A must visit for all is a visit to the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum where you can see hundreds of mounted fish, fishing artefacts, outboards, reels, fishing rods and other accessories. Not to be left out, there is also a boat and motor display. Take a trip to the Houdini Historical Centre where you can get to know about the famous magician’s life and career.
At Crystal Cave, you can spend a fascinating time exploring the labyrinth passageways which have hundreds of stalactites and stalagmites. Get a deeper understanding and appreciation of the relationship between plants and people at Green Bay Botanical Gardens.
For some water sport, head to Noah’s Ark Waterpark spread across 70 acres with water activities for adults and children. The Above and Beyond Children’s Museum offers some great hands-on activities for kids with tree houses, sky crawl and a pin screen, among others. Move over to the Discovery World Museum where you can enjoy the many hands-on interactive exhibits in this stunning museum. At the International Clown Hall of Fame you are treated to the dedication, preservation and advancement of clown art. You get to know about outstanding clown performers. It even has a living museum of clowning with resident performers.
At the Olbrich Botanical Gardens you are treated to a green paradise with different types of gardens that promise to transport you into a different world altogether.
